Overview

Ever grown tired of takeout? In today's fast-paced world, many people crave home-cooked meals but struggle to find the time and energy to cook. After a demanding 8-hour workday and dealing with a difficult boss, cooking can feel overwhelming. Moreover, dining out daily for convenience can quickly strain the budget. My idea emerged from recognizing these common, everyday challenges.

With this in mind, I set out to design a solution that would bring convenience to busy lives by saving time on chores and offering a way to save money without compromising the quality of their diet.

The Problem

The Challenge

It was essential to deeply understand the pain points from both the consumers’ and suppliers’ perspectives. As I developed the solution, my goal was to strike the right balance between offering users flexible options and preventing overly complex orders.

Solution

Develop a subscription-based platform that connects cooking enthusiasts to foodies. It’s like an Airbnb but for the food. Anyone who loves cooking can join as a cook, while those desiring home-cooked meals can place orders through our platform. This provides suppliers with an opportunity to launch a food business with minimal financial investment, enabling us to offer meals to consumers at a lower cost without compromising on ingredient quality.

User Research

I conducted 15 one-on-one user interviews, posing a series of open-ended questions relevant to the project. After gathering data, I analyzed and validated ideas to refine the product's features according to users' needs.

Data points & Affinity mapping

This process helped me organize large amounts of data by clustering and bundling ideas and facts. As a result, I was able to derive insights in the form of "I" statements.

User Persona

With the data collected from previous steps, I created personas for both consumers and suppliers. This enabled me to understand the target users: their expectations, concerns, and motivations. In this way, I was able to design a product that will satisfy users needs.

User Interface

During the user interface design phase, I established a very simple and clean system to emphasize the hygiene. Additionally, numerous studies have indicated that the color orange stimulates appetite, so I adopted an orange/peach color scheme as the overall theme for my customers. I contrasted this with a bright blue color for the cooks version of the application. To enhance the overall friendly user experience, I incorporated rounded corners in both versions of the app.
